History:

After high school, I attended Northwestern College in Roseville, MN. I really enjoyed my college days at NWC. The smaller student body allowed me to establish relationships and feel connected, which was nice coming from a small town and high school. I graduated in 1983 with a B.S. In Elementary Education. I went to the U of MN for my Master's Degree and took additional credits at the College of St. Thomas.

Occupation:

After graduating from college, I substitute taught for one year in the St. Paul School District. Most of my jobs were at an inner-city magnet school, so the experience was invaluable. MN teaching jobs were scarce at that time, so I began applying elsewhere. I was hired to teach 4th grade in Devine, TX in August, 1984. I lived in San Antonio with Liz Watzke for the 1984-85 school year. Theresa (Terri) McCollar also lived in San Antonio, so the three of us spent a lot of time together and have some great memories! I returned to MN in 1985 and was hired by the Osseo/Maple Grove School District. I taught 1st grade for three years and 5th grade since then. I love teaching! Every day is unique and somewhat entertaining when you work with children. Therefore, there is no opportunity for boredom and there is seldom a dull moment! I feel very fortunate to teach in a school with respectful students and involved parents.

Family:

Meeting "Mr. Right" took me quite some time, but the wait was well worth it! Most of my family and friends had decided I was just "too picky." I had concluded that the "man of my dreams" would exist in my dreams only, but then went on one last blind date and met my husband, Mike McBride. We met in Sept. 1994 and were married in May 1995. While I enjoyed my days as a single adult with little accountability, married life was what I had hoped for and is now better than I had imagined. Mike and I enjoyed two years of honeymooning and traveling, and then decided to catch up with our friends and start a family. Meghan Olivia was born April 21, 1997. Elizabeth Rose was born Feb. 9, 1999. They are wonderful gifts from God and we feel so blessed to have them. I am taking a year's leave from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom. I love being at home with them and having time to play, socialize and keep our home running smoothly. My dad passed away in 1988 after struggling with a brain tumor. My mom remarried a nice man from Donnelly, Jim Aanerud. They live in Donnelly now and love traveling and having their grandchildren visit. My sister, Deb, lives in Prior Lake. She married Steve Rose and has two boys. My sister, Pam, lives in Barney, ND. She married Lowell Uhden and has 2 boys and a girl. My brother, Keven, lives in Phoenix, AZ. He married Diann (not from Morris) and has 2 girls and a boy.

Hobbies:

Mike and I enjoy biking (the pedal kind) and traveling. We spend a lot of time with friends and family. We are very involved in our church. Mike teaches an adult study and we are part of a small group Bible study. I help in the nursery, attend a women's Bible study and help plan and teach Vacation Bible School.

High School Memories:

It is fun to think about the carefree days we spent together at MHS. I have many fond memories of the things we did together. A few of them include:
*hanging out with friends in the halls during lunch hour
*spending study halls in the library talking
*making a human pyramid in the library (and getting caught by Mrs. P., of course)
*planning and attending school activities
*driving around Morris playing Cat-n-Mouse
